Where: Calvary Chapel of Greeley (2602 27th St. Greeley, CO 80634)

Hosted by: Home Educators Fellowship

Workshop Description:

Studies have shown that the right hemisphere of the brain houses the visual, automatic memory. This is the long-term memory.  We will teach you how to activate and develop this powerful learning tool.  Using color, story, and humor, you can unlock amazing learning potential.  This is effective for children who have a difficult time learning and holding on to information they are taught using traditional teaching strategies and for children to whom learning comes easily.  Teaching to the visual memory is often referred to as the “Universal Learning Method”.

These techniques can be used for many areas of learning, including math, test-taking, and college courses. In this workshop, we will focus on the following areas:

  • Spelling – Spelling bee winners can “see” their words in their head. Learn how to make spelling lessons the favorite part of your child’s school day. Give the words enough “glue” to transfer from his weekly spelling tests to his writing assignments.
  • Reading – We consistently see a two-year jump in a child’s reading level when these strategies are used for phonics, sight words, and building the reading vocabulary for reading fluency.
  • Reading comprehension – Remembering and understanding what a child reads becomes much easier when you train her to make a movie of what she reads in her head.
  • Vocabulary – Even your vocabulary lesson becomes an enjoyable event.

Get ready to think outside of the box and open up a whole new learning avenue for your child!
