CONNECT Education is presenting a two-day workshop in Pagosa Springs.
When: April 7th & April 8th, 2017
Where: Pagosa Bible Church
Hosted by: Pagosa Homeschool Connection
Workshop Descriptions:
6:30 PM- Engaging Your Child’s Innate Visual Memory
Teaching to the visual/long-term memory is often referred to as the “Universal Learning Method”. We will teach you how to develop this powerful tool. These are simple techniques that you can take home to use with your child immediately.
9:00 AM – Getting to the Root of Learning Issues
In this foundational workshop, we will take a look at how the brain processes information and why processing issues (Visual, Visual/Motor, Auditory, and Focus/Attention/Behavior) occur. We will then introduce you to mid-line therapy you can do with your child to remove these issues.
10:10 AM – Bright, but Struggling to Write
Many children have difficulty thinking and writing at the same time, because the act of writing takes too much energy for them. We will teach you how to identify signs of stress in the Visual/Motor (writing) Processing and exactly what you can do to relieve this stress. Because this is the most common learning issue for gifted children, it often looks like they are just being lazy, over-dramatic (meltdowns), or uncooperative.
11:20 AM – A Natural Approach to Attention, Learning, and Sensory Issues
Much research is coming to light indicating that the gut is the “second brain”. What is going on in the bio-chemistry that is causing so many children to struggle with focus/attention, auditory processing, and sensory processing problems? Yeast/fungus overgrowth and a lack of EFAs can contribute to these issues. Thankfully, there are simple solutions that can help a child out of a “nutritional hole.”
