We are looking forward to presenting “Bright, but Struggling to Write” in Woodland Park and Lake George this upcoming Thursday.
When: April 13th, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Where: Community Fellowship of Christians in Lake George
In this workshop ,we will teach you how to identify signs of stress in your child’s Visual/Motor (writing) Processing and exactly what you can do to relieve this stress at home. Many children have difficulty thinking and writing at the same time, because the act of writing takes too much energy for them. Because this is the most common learning issue for gifted children, it often looks like they are just being lazy, over-dramatic (meltdowns), or uncooperative.
A few of the symptoms of a Visual/Motor Processing issues:
- Reverses letters and/or numbers beyond seven years old (This includes making letters from bottom to top – a vertical reversal.)
- Mixes capital and lower case letters in writing – often forgets punctuation rules
- Tells detailed stories orally, but when asked to write it down, writes as little as possible
- Hates to write – or takes a long time to do so
We will teach you a daily exercise to reduce the stress in the writing system. It gives a child a solid midline, which internalizes directionality and improves eye/hand coordination.
Imagine writing becoming a non-issue for your child!
